The presenter of the next Oscar ceremony has been announced. Talk show host Conan O’Brien may take the stage next spring, succeeding colleague Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted for the fourth time in 2024.
Debut as host
O’Brien is a well-known face in American television, but he has never been an Oscar host. On Friday, the concerned committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed that it would like to debut the host of “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” (and derivatives).
“His ability to win over viewers fits perfectly with the purpose of this event: to celebrate the most spectacular films and the best filmmakers of the past year,” the Academy’s CEO and president said in a joint statement. The president of the Disney Television Group was quick to respond with praise: “His comedic voice is distinctive and has had continued success for good reason,” the caption reads. Variety.
