This Tuesday, November 12, the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaumadmitted that the results of his security strategy will not arrive “from one day to the next”, in reference to the recent massacres in which dozens of people died in the states of Guerrero, Querétaro and Sinaloa, and that have occurred in the first weeks of his mandate.
“We are going to give results and that has to do with the coordination and the strategy that we have been talking about, it is not from one day to the next, but the results are going to be noticeable,” detailed Sheinbaum, who pointed out the need to address the causes of the problem, reduce impunity and improve security.
The President released a security report during “La Mañanera del Pueblo” today in the wake of the recent massacres, which have caused great commotion throughout the country, including the murder last Sunday of six people in a bar of Cuautitlán Izcalli, a municipality in the State of Mexico adjacent to the metropolitan area of Mexico City.
In addition, 10 other people were killed and thirteen injured in Queretaro last Saturday, during an attack that occurred in a bar near the historic center of the capital of that state, a world cultural heritage city that until now had remained untouched by bloody events.

“There are five entities that concentrate practically 50% of the crimes”detailed President Sheinbaum, who pointed out the need to articulate particular strategies for each area.
Violence, Sheinbaum’s main challenge
Sheinbaum assumed the Presidency on October 1, after six years of Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s mandate (2018-2024), during whose Government there were more than 196 thousand murders, according to the civil organization Causa en Común recently reported, based on figures officers.
Since Sheinbaum came to power, the authorities They have arrested 3,015 high-profile criminals and confiscated 390,740 fentanyl pills, As indicated by the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch.
In total, the federal Administration has seized 42 tons of drugs, including the seizure of fentanyl pills, another fourteen kilograms of that substance, twenty-two kilograms of heroin, more than 8,500 of marijuana, 20,075 of cocaine and 13,373 of methamphetamines.
“With these actions, we reaffirm that the Government of Mexico is acting firmly to combat violence in our country and work for peace and security throughout the country,” García Harfuch highlighted.
The Sheinbaum Administration has also inherited the struggle within the Sinaloa cartel following the arrest of capo Ismael “Mayo” Zambada in the United States, and which has caused nearly 350 murders in Sinaloa since September, although the average number of homicides in November has decreased somewhat (3.91 per day).
“Starting in September, and due to a struggle between organized crime groups, an increase in the number of homicides was recorded, reaching a daily average of 4.17 in September and 5.77 in October,” reported the head of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), Marcela Figueroa.
The new President of Mexico also faces criticism for promoting the militarization of public security and the judicial reform that establishes the election by popular vote of judges and magistrates of the Supreme Court starting in 2025, with candidates proposed by the Executive and others. powers.
“There are insecurity problems in the country, which we are addressing, but there is no repression by the Mexican State, that is something else,” Sheinbaum said this Tuesday.
