Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Founder and CEO of Nvidia Jensen Huang revealed that Indonesia needs to have its own artificial intelligence (AI) technology instead of using AI from other companies or countries.
According to him, by having AI, Indonesia will be more empowered, especially since Indonesia already has various resources.
Not to mention, Indonesia’s population of 280 million also has the potential to become a capable database for AI.
“Having AI independently is a necessity. Because AI is now a commodity that must be owned, this intelligence is an asset,” said Jensen Huang, in a session with GoTo Group CEO Patrick Walujo at Indonesia AI Day 2024 in Jakarta, Thursday (14 /11/2024).
Furthermore, Jensen revealed, AI could also become an industry. The presence of Indonesian AI could also be an opportunity for this country. Moreover, Indonesia is a country that has great access to energy and local markets.
“Indonesia has access to energy and local markets, with 200 – 300 million people, AI is an extraordinary opportunity as well as a mandate,” said the Nvidia boss.
According to Jensen, it makes no sense that the data of many residents was taken over by foreign technology companies and then sold back to Indonesia.
“That doesn’t make sense, therefore, you have to have your own artificial intelligence. AI must be the most important national initiative, therefore I am happy to see the development of AI in Indonesia,” said Jensen Huang.
Hearing this answer, GoTo Group CEO Patrick Walujo said that in order for AI development to be sustainable and produce the best results, government support is needed.
Also speaking as a speaker, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir, revealed that President Prabowo Subianto’s government had provided support for human resource development from an early age.
This is done through programs that support children’s intelligence. Starting from providing nutrition for early childhood to focusing on education which will emphasize learning Mathematics as the basis for logical thinking.
