In yesterday’s list of nominations by the president-elect Donald Trumpannounced that the driver of Fox News and Army veteran, Pete Hegsethwill be your Secretary of Defense and the former Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffeto head the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA, for its acronym in English).
The selection of Hegseth, who has no experience as a high-ranking military officer or in national security issues, will undoubtedly raise questions about his credentials to take the reins of the department.
Hegseth was an infantry captain in the Army National Guard and served overseas in Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
In a barrage of advertisements, Trump said he had chosen the former governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabeeas ambassador to Israel and his friend of years, Steven Witkoffas special envoy to the Middle East.
Trump also named Bill McGinley, his cabinet secretary in his first administration, as his White House legal advisor.
Trump presented a steady stream of appointments and nominees for his next administration, working so far at a faster pace and without as much drama as in his first transition after his victory in 2016.
