A federal judge linked to the process Marcelino Ticante Castroknown as “The Phantom”alleged member of the Sinaloa Cartel and former security chief of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loerafor their possible participation in crimes related to the use of weapons and ammunition exclusive to the Armed Forces.
During the initial hearing, the Federal Public Ministry presented sufficient evidence for the judge of Specialized District in the Accusatory Penal System in Sinaloabased in Culiacanordered the prosecution of Ticante Castro and three of his alleged accomplices, who were placed in preventive detention at the Aguaruto Penitentiary Center, Sinaloa.

In the operation, eight assault rifles, two machine guns, a handgun, 2,594 cartridges, 47 magazines and seven bulletproof vestsall for exclusive military use. The judge granted the FGR a period of two months to complete the investigation.
