The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaumannounced this Monday, November 11, that at the G20 summit, which will take place next week in Brazil, he will present “Sembrando Vida”, the rural support program created by his predecessor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024 ), who called him the “largest reforestation plan in the world.”
“What I am going to present at the G20 is mainly the Sowing Life program. The proposal is, I can tell you, that spending on arms is reduced a little, just a little, and that instead of sowing wars, life is sown and sow peace”, declared the President in “La Mañanera del Pueblo” today in the National Palace.
President Sheinbaum had announced last Friday that she would defend her political “project” at the meeting of the G20 in Brazil, where he will suggest allocate 1% of arms spending to fight poverty.
Now he detailed that an important part of his exhibition will be Sowing Life, a program with which the López Obrador government assured that there were close to 2 million farmers benefiting, the planting of more than 1.2 million trees and the reforestation of more than 1 million hectares.
In fact, Sheinbaum and López Obrador have proposed Latin American countries to implement this program to discourage migration.
“In that way, improves people’s quality of life, reduces poverty, supports the environment and even reduces migration, So it is one of the proposals with which we are going to go to the G20,” he expressed.
Sheinbaum’s participation in Rio de Janeiro on November 18his first trip abroad since taking office on October 1, causes expectations after López Obrador never attended the G20 or almost any international forum during his mandate.
