Six dead overnight in southern Ukraine. At least six people were killed and around twenty others injured in Russian attacks in Mykolaiv and Zaporizhia, according to local authorities. “Fires broke out in residential buildings in the city”reported the governor of the Mykolaiv region, reporting five deaths and one injured. “The Russians attacked our city again with drones”lamented the mayor of the town. In Zaporizhia, airstrikes left one dead and 21 injured, according to the regional governor.
Drones intercepted in Russia. The Russian Defense Ministry said it had intercepted four Ukrainian drones in the Voronezh region, which borders Ukraine. The previous night, both sides had carried out drone attacks on an unprecedented scale. Moscow claimed to have neutralized 34 drones in the capital region, a record in the sector since the start of the conflict in 2022.
Moscow says it has foiled an attempted helicopter hijacking. The Russian security services (FSB) say they have foiled a Ukrainian attempt to hijack a Russian military helicopter by recruiting a pilot. In July, the FSB said it had prevented another similar attempt, this time targeting a strategic bomber, with the complicity of a “Russian military pilot, in exchange for financial reward and Italian citizenship”.
