Since yesterday, the acronym of the Secretariat of National Defense changed from “Sedena” to “Defense”.
“With the authorization of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the acronym Sedena to identify the Secretariat of National Defense, it was replaced by the word Defense,” the Army reported.
He said that this change occurred to link the main objective of the corporation and thus be recognized by national and international institutions.
The change of the acronym is already reflected on the official website of the Government of Mexico, as well as on its social networks.
Despite the change in the acronym of the Secretariat of National Defense, the corporation will retain the same name.
“This change will allow Mexican society and national and international institutions to have more clarity about the main function of the Secretariat of National Defense and greater understanding and coordination of all the activities carried out in this area for the benefit of Mexicans.” , noted the Army.
On its official Sedena page, other changes were also revealed, such as the new name for the military school that is now called “Higher War School.”
The Secretariat of National Defense was created on October 25, 1937 with the objective of defending national integrity, independence and sovereignty, and guaranteeing internal security and assisting the civilian population.
