Can older adults with disabilities receive two welfare pensions?
According to what was shared by the owner of the Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel, the government of Mexico and the Mexican Constitution, which already establishes the Welfare Pension as “universal” for all adults over 65 years of age, article 4 of the Magna Carta also establishes that All people with disabilities under 65 years of age must receive a different pension than the one that older adults receive.
In this way, people with disabilities will have their own pension that relates to their disability throughout their lives, but when they turn 65 they will receive the Welfare Pension to Older adults, therefore, the previous one will be cancelled.
This means that older adults with disabilities cannot simultaneously receive both Welfare Pensions, but They will change from one pension to another when they reach the designated age (65 years) for older adults.

“To make the difference and make it very clear that there are not two pensions for a person over 65 years of age who lives with a disability, it is in the age range, and obviously it is convenient for them to the extent that the amount for the elderly is a higher amount”, explained the head of the secretariat, Ariadna Montiel.
