The message fell a little before 9 a.m. (French time) this Wednesday morning. A few minutes after the first words of Donald Trump claiming his victory in the American presidential election, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron congratulated the 47th American president, who emerged victorious from his duel with Kamala Harris. “Congratulations President Donald Trump. Ready to work together as we have been able to do for four years. With your beliefs and with mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity,” commented the French president on the social network X.
Donald Trump is well ahead in the poll and has flipped several states to ensure a wider victory than one could imagine. “I will fight for you, for your family and your future. Every day I will fight for you with every fiber of my body, I will not rest until America is the strong, safe, prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve,” he declared.
A little earlier, it was the spokesperson for the French government who spoke on RTL. Donald Trump’s victory was not yet completely assured. “This should ask us not about what the United States is going to do, but about what Europe is capable of doing. In a certain number of absolutely key sectors, defense, reindustrialization, decarbonization, we must take our destiny in hand,” declared Maud Bregeon.
Note that the European stock markets opened higher on Wednesday facing the prospect of a return to the White House of Donald Trump who claimed his victory. In the first exchanges, the Paris Stock Exchange advanced significantly (1.11%), London gained 0.86%, Frankfurt 0.82% and Milan 0.63%.
