The filming of the reboot of Sylvester Stallone’s sporty action film Cliffhanger (1993) have started, but the film will look a bit different than what was announced last year. For example, Stallone is no longer participating and Pam & Tommy star Lily James has taken on the leading role.
Father-daughter story
Initially, Stallone would reprise his role search and rescue mountain climber Gabe Walker, but Variety reports that the change of actors is due to “a creative overhaul”. In addition to James, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! co-star Pierce Brosnan also stars in the film, which sources describe as “a father-daughter version of Die Hard (1988)“.
Ook The First Omen-ster Nell Tiger Free, Shubham Saraf, Franz Rogowski (Passages (2023)), Assaad Bouab, Suzy Bemba and Emily in Paris actor Bruno Gouery star in the action film directed by Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh.
The plot
Brosnan will play seasoned mountaineer Ray Cooper, who runs a luxury chalet in the Dolomites with daughter Sydney. During a weekend away with the son of a billionaire, they are targeted by a gang of kidnappers. Ray’s daughter Naomi (James), still haunted by a past climbing accident, witnesses the attack and escapes. To save her family, she must confront her fears and fight for survival.
The recordings of Cliffhanger are currently taking place in Austria. Unfortunately, a release date has not yet been announced.
