The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has reactivated its “Connectivity for Wellbeing” program, which provides SIM cards with free internet access, as well as calls and text messages, This initiative seeks to ensure the right to information and communication for those citizens who find themselves in situations of social backwardness.
This free internet program is implemented by the CFE in collaboration with the Government of Mexico and the Ministry of Welfare. The delivery of SIM cards will be made on specific dates, and those interested must meet a series of requirements.
What are the requirements to access the CFE’s free internet?
In November 2024, Student beneficiaries of the Benito Juárez Scholarship program will have priority to receive the chip with free internet, although this service It is only available in Mexico City at the moment.

To obtain the SIM card,It is necessary to go to the designated modules in the various municipalities of the capital, carrying a Band 28 compatible phone and presenting the following documents:
- Birth certificate.
- CURP certified by the Civil Registry.
- Official identification with photo and valid.
- Proof of address no more than three months old.
The modules of the Connectivity for Wellbeing Program are available in different areas of Mexico City from October 14 to December 5, 2024. The opening hours will be Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Central Time).
The CFE’s free internet package includes 5 GB per month, 1,500 minutes for calls and 500 text messages, valid for one year.
