Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, President of Mexico, presented on October 15 the National Housing Program, an initiative with which she will seek to build one million low-price homes for the vulnerable population, with all basic services, and close to urban infrastructure.
These homes would have a cost of between 700 thousand and one million 200 thousand pesos, and among its benefits would be access to affordable housing for the vulnerable population, already existing urban infrastructure, boosting the local economy, improving the quality of life and regional economic development, and in addition, they would also be an opportunity for not entitled to have their own home; That is, for people who do not contribute to Infonavit or IMSS.
According to the project proposed by Claudia Sheinbaum, of the total number of new homes228,800 are projected in the Central-North region of the country, which includes the state of Jalisco. According to the Jalisco Housing Institute (Ijalvi), it was estimated that, in a first program for our state, up to 10 thousand affordable homes.
For its part, the Metropolitan Planning Institute (Imeplan) explained that Sheinbaum’s proposal is aligned with the criteria of the polycentric model promoted by this institute, where it seeks promote housing in areas that already have infrastructure to develop community, such as access to public transportation, schools, shopping areas, among others.
These are areas such as the surroundings of the Barranca de Huentitán, the Mesa Colorada Poniente in Zapopan; Zalatitán, in Tonalá; Lomas de Tejeda, in Tlajomulco; Las Canteras, in Zapotlanejo, or San José del Castillo, in the municipality of El Salto.
