The resounding case of the sequestration in 2022 of footballer Paul Pogba will be judged from November 26 to December 3, franceinfo learned from a judicial source, confirming information from AFP and The Team. Six relatives of Paul Pogba, including his brother Mathias, are referred to the Paris criminal court mainly for extortion and attempted extortion, kidnapping and sequestration, as well as criminal association.
“The referral of Mathias Pogba to the criminal court is ordered for the offenses of attempted extortion and criminal association with a view to preparing an offense punishable by at least 5 years of imprisonment”the judicial source tells franceinfo. He was absent the night of the kidnapping, which he discovered long after.
The facts date back to March 19, 2022. Three childhood friends and two former acquaintances of Paul Pogba are suspected of having prepared a meeting in the Paris suburbs, during which the player was kidnapped and robbed by two unidentified men, demanding 13 million euros. The affair became public, turning into a family drama, when Mathias published videos in the summer of 2022 incriminating his younger brother whom he accused of having them “abandoned”. In one of these videos, he also accused his brother of having tried to harass his teammate in the selection Kylian Mbappé.
