Previously, Apple came up with a new breakthrough through the developer beta release of iOS 18.2. This update brings various interesting features that are ready to make the user experience even more sophisticated.
Quoted from 9to5macFriday (25/10/2024), iOS 18.2 also expands Apple Intelligence support to more English-speaking countries, setting up a big step towards a full launch later in the year.
New Features in iOS 18.2
iOS 18.2 introduces several exciting innovations, including:
- Genmoji and Image Playground: now, you can create custom emojis directly from the keyboard or creative images using text in Image Playground.
- ChatGPT in Siri & Writing Tools: Siri can now throw tasks into ChatGPT to help answer complex requests, such as creating a travel itinerary.
- Visual Intelligence on iPhone 16: This feature makes the camera smarter. Just by long pressing Camera Control on the lock screen, you can immediately get information about the object you are photographing.
Apple Intelligence Expands
As of iOS 18.1, Apple Intelligence is only available in US English. Well, in iOS 18.2, language support is expanded to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK.
If you are outside this region, you can change your iPhone language to one of the supported ones to try out the features.
Unfortunately, due to regulations, Apple Intelligence still cannot be activated in China and the European Union. Support for new non-English languages will roll out next year.
Writing Tools Makin Powerful
Apart from being able to change text with presets, there is a new feature called Describe your change. You can give a specific request, such as “Make this text sound more enthusiastic!”
In addition, ChatGPT is now integrated in Writng Tools, so you can use Compose with ChatGPT to help write content.
