Through his account on X, the president of the Senate, Gerardo Fernández Noronapublished an image of several empty seats in the Senate, which appear to belong to senators from the PRI.
Fernández Noroña commented ironically that, given the lack of representatives of the PRI parliamentary group, “the dictatorship has already disappeared.”
The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) responded by recalling that in 2014, before assuming the presidency of the Senate, Gerardo Fernández Noroña was “dragged” through the streets of Mexico City for being “insolent and rude”.
The PRI pointed out that the dictatorship did not disappear from him and even today he is the president of the Senate “Have confidence in the twists and turns that life takes”.
Moments later Fernández Noroña He accused that the photo shared by the political party is their “democracy that they long for” and explained that theirs is the “dictatorship that only exists in their (PRI) heads.”
Why did the police arrest Fernández Noroña?
In 2014, during the government of Enrique Pena Nietoa proposal for secondary laws to the Telecommunications reform was presented, which included provisions to regulate Internet content.
This initiative caused widespread discontent in the population, triggering numerous protests, among which the participation of Fernández Noroña stood out, who expressed his disagreement in front of the Senate.
Later, in a brief confrontation between protesters and police members, they were removed, which the now president of the Senate described as police repression.
