When the word “Godzilla” comes to mind, many contemporary film viewers think of the “Monsterverse” series that kicked off in 2014 with Godzilla (2014). However, the film existence of the scaly monster creature started decades ago not in the United States, but in Japan. In 2023, Japanese creator Takashi Yamazaki grabbed with Godzilla Minus One (2023) back to that origin, and the result subsequently also managed to conquer Netflix. A successor is now on its way.
Green light
Yamazaki and his team have been given the green light to produce a second one Godzilla-film. Like part one, the project is set up under the supervision of the major Japanese studio Toho. The company provided few substantive details.
Visual effects
It remains to be seen how exactly this second film will compare Minus Onewhich was set in post-World War II Japan. Yamazaki distinguished himself with the blockbuster by not only directing and writing, but also acting as visual effects supervisor. The Japanese has extensive experience in that area and indicated in interviews that it had helped him enormously in fine-tuning. In the United States, the action film became one of the biggest blockbusters that did not originate from the country itself.
