The Government of Tlaxcala confirmed that 12 workers died during the explosion of a boiler that occurred in the early hours of October 30 at the Simec company plantlocated in Xaloztoc, where steel is processed.
One more of the workers was seriously injured and was taken to a hospital in the region for medical attention. Meanwhile, Governor Lorena Cuéllar regretted the incident and, through her social networks, announced that she will coordinate actions to support the deceased victims and the bereaved.
In turn, relatives of the deceased expressed their dissatisfaction with the operation of the company, which, they assured, works in conditions of risk for employees and without safety guarantees for them.
“It is a very unsafe company, incidents had already been reported and they did not give it priority, and there is the loss of more than eight people”said a relative of one of the deceased workers.

The explosion occurred after 3:00 a.m.; Initially, the police corporations reported eight people dead, until the local government confirmed a death toll of 12 and one seriously injured.
According to a state Civil Protection report, the explosion occurred in a tower, as the workers call it, where the steel is poured, which came into contact with water and that would have generated a risky reaction.
The fire has already been controlled and supervisions were carried out to verify that there were no more risks. However, state authorities and the state Attorney General’s Office are carrying out the relevant investigations to determine the causes and those responsible for the accident.
