This Wednesday, October 30, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN)Norma Lucía Piña Hernández, made public her resignation from the position of minister that she assumed in 2015, during the six-year term of PRI Enrique Peña Nieto, and declined to participate in the election of ministers scheduled for 2025.
Through a letter he sent to the Senate Board of Directors, Piña Hernández made it clear that his resignation “does not imply my agreement with the separation of the position for which I was originally appointed until December 10, 2030, but rather an act of consistency and respect for the constitutional text that governs us today.”
This October 30, in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate Board of Directors, Gerardo Fernández Noronathe minister president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Norma Lucía Piña Hernández, presented her resignation before the Supreme Court as an “act of congruence.”
The minister president pointed out that His resignation from office will take effect until August 31, 2025. for all corresponding constitutional and legal effects and assured that “this resignation does not imply my agreement with the separation of the position for which I was originally appointed until December 10, 2030, but rather an act of consistency and respect for the constitutional text that today governs us.”
Furthermore, Piña Hernández specified that will decline the candidacy to participate in the extraordinary election of the judging persons who will occupy, among others, the positions of ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation in 2025.
Likewise, she recalled that “on January 2, 2023, the day I took my oath as President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation and the Council of the Federal Judiciary, I assumed, with the highest commitment, with honor and conviction, the responsibility to represent the Judicial Branch of the Federation, of which I have proudly been a part of the last 36 years of my life.
