The incumbent party of billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili won the parliamentary elections, according to the Georgian Central Election Commission. Several international observers, however, reported several irregularities during the vote, including ballot stuffing. This result could cost Georgia its entry into the European Union: Brussels had announced before the vote that the accession of this Caucasian country would depend on the outcome of the elections.
The opposition has called for demonstrations on Monday in this former Soviet republic. Just like President Salomé Zourabichvili, breaking with the government, who castigated a « falsification totale » elections. “We are witnesses and victims of a special Russian operation, a modern form of hybrid warfare against the Georgian people”she also declared, without specifying her allegations.
