Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech (N.60) qualified Monday for the 2nd round of the Masters 1000 at Bercy after the abandonment of his Czech opponent Tomas Machac (N.25), 6-7 (3/7), 5- 3.
The first Frenchman to enter the final draw, Rinderknech will face in the next round the winner of the duel between the Pole Hubert Hurkacz (N.15) and the American Alex Michelsen (N.44).
After losing the first set in the tie-break 7-6 (7/3) due to failure to convert his three break points, Rinderknech was leading 3-0 in the second set when Machac requested a first medical interruption, to be massage the lower right leg.
