Félix Lebrun, 18, became the first Frenchman to win a WTT Champions tournament on Sunday, beating the Japanese Tomokasu Harimoto in the final in Montpellier, four sets to one.
Carried by the public at the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier, the seventh world table tennis player won against the world No.8 11-7, 11-9, 11-6, 8-11, 11-4 in Hérault , where he was born and trains.
Already considered one of the leaders in world ping, Félix came to conclude a crazy month of October for the Lebrun brothers.
Barely a week ago, with Alexis Lebrun, he was crowned European champion in doubles, the same day as the coronation of his elder (21 years old) in singles. Two months earlier, the brothers had collected two bronze medals at the Olympic Games, in singles for Félix and in teams with Simon Gauzy.
The WTT Champions, a second-level tournament on the world circuit just after the Grand Smashes (equivalent to the Grand Slam tournaments in tennis), was organized for the first time in France this year, in Montpellier.
