Stephen King, the master of horror and thriller, is a reliable authority when it comes to Halloween movie tips. The author writes and sees several during his career, but it remains a difficult question. After two honorable mentions, the author managed to choose one favorite.
Something for everyone
Asking a movie lover for a favorite movie is still a mean question. That also applies to King. The author had to think deeply, but admitted that given his background it is a valid question and came up with a satisfactory answer:
My conclusion is that the scariest movie varies depending on the age of the viewer. As a 16 year old kid it was the scariest movie The Haunting. As an adult it is The Blair Witch Project with that building sense of foreboding and that truly awful last 35 seconds. In general, I’ll go for it Night of the Living DeadGeorge A. Romero’s low-budget masterpiece.
Helpless fear
According to King The Haunting (1963), The Blair Witch Project (1999) in Night of the Living Dead (1968) the scariest movies of all time and therefore perfect for this Halloween week. He acknowledges that Night of the Living Dead has lost its original impact over the years and is almost considered a joke, but he will never forget the helpless fear he felt upon his first viewing.
