The British Jack Draper, 18th in the world, and the Russian Karen Khachanov (24th) will face each other on Sunday in the final of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna.
Draper, 22, qualified by beating the Italian Lorenzo Musetti (17th) 6-2, 6-4, then Khachanov eliminated the Australian Alex de Minaur (10th and seeded No.2) 6-2, 6-4.
The Briton will try to win the second title of his career on Sunday after Stuttgart in July.
Khachanov, 28, will be looking for his eighth title and his third of the season after Almaty and Doha.
Thanks to this success at the end of a match that was tighter than the score suggests (1h49), Draper will enter the Top 15 in the ATP rankings on Monday.
This is the third time in as many confrontations that the British southpaw has beaten Musetti. The only consolation for the Italian was that he scored the point of the match during the second set: a backhand lob placed just in front of the baseline.
