With less than two weeks until the presidential elections of November 5, Kamala Harris continues her campaign to win votes among Hispanicswhich could change the outcome of the elections in key states such as Arizona, Pennsylvania and Nevada.
Kamala Harris described herself as a “pragmatic capitalist” this Wednesday on Telemundo, her only interview with a Spanish-language media during the campaign, while classifying her opponent, Donald Trump, as a “fascist to the core.”
“I am a capitalist who believes that not everyone starts from the same foundation, but that everyone has the drive, the guts and the work ethic. To be successful, we have to create an economy that offers opportunities to people,” noted the vice president.

Once again, the vice president tried to remove the “progressive” and “communist” label that the former president and Republican candidate has given her during this campaign. Something that could harm the Democrat when it comes to getting the vote of more conservative Latinos.
During the roughly 20-minute interview at her Washington residence, Harris said her goal as president will be to reduce living and housing costs.as well as promoting an economy that supports and creates opportunities for the working class, especially Latinos through its “opportunity agenda for Latino men.”
Among the measures that the Democratic candidate promises are: eliminating degree requirements for Latinos without a college degree for 500,000 federal jobs, increasing startup financing for Latinos who start or expand their own businesses with one million loans of up to $20,000. or aid to buy homes with the construction of more accessible homes, among others.
“I believe we need a new generation of leaders in the United States, who will actively work with the private sector to develop America’s new industries”he noted.
A broken immigration system
About the border with Mexico and immigration She said her job as president of the United States will be to ensure that there are “secure borders at all times.” and there is “an organized and humanitarian immigration system.”
“The American immigration system has been broken for many years. It can be fixed,” he noted, and again criticized Trump for interfering in a bipartisan bill in Congress “that could have covered part of those border needs.”
When Trump announced his first campaign in 2016, he did so with insults to Mexico, claiming that it sent “drugs” and “rapists” to the United States and, this year, in his third presidential campaign, he compared immigrants to the character Hannibal Lecter, the murderer. from the film ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ (1991).
Comments like this meant that, in the 2020 elections, most counties with a large Hispanic population voted for the Democratic Party.
However, in some key states, such as Texas and Florida, Republicans recorded a significant increase in votes in 2020 and, at the federal level, the percentage of Latinos who supported Trump was 38%, ten points higher than in 2016, according to the Pew center.

Non-use of military forces in Venezuela
Harris indicated that if she reached the Oval Office she would not use the Armed Forces if Nicolás Maduro does not leave officewho in July declared himself the winner of a new mandate in a presidential election that the opposition and the United States, among other countries and international institutions, considered fraudulent.
“Let me be very clear as well, we must stand firm as the United States and respect the will of the people in those elections. And I have been very clear about that in relation to the elections that took place in Venezuela. The will of the people must be respected. It is That is why we have also issued sanctions,” he added.
