World Stroke Day: Omron Gives Tips on How to Prevent AFib Disorders with This Device

WHO estimates that the elderly population in Indonesia will increase to 28.68% in 2045-2050, which indicates that the incidence of AFib will continue to increase, so effective screening and management strategies are needed.

The increase in AFib cases in Indonesia reflects a global trend, with risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes and lifestyle changes contributing to this growth.

Many Indonesians, especially those over 50 years old, have a high risk of developing AFib.

However, heart rhythm disorders are also starting to become more common in the productive age group, especially between 40 and 65 years.

Dr. Bagus Andi, SpJP – Chair of the Hypertension Working Group PERKI (Indonesian Association of Cardiovascular Specialists), said AFib is responsible for up to 20% of all ischemic strokes.

“With an aging population and changing lifestyles, the incidence of AFib continues to increase, so it is important to increase education about early detection and appropriate treatment,” he said.
