An idea that could make Quasimodo jump. In an interview given this Wednesday evening au FigaroRachida Dati suggests charging for entry to Notre-Dame de Paris. Which would make it possible to raise 75 million euros per, she underlines, and to finance the restoration of “all the other churches in France”.
The Minister of Culture indicates that she spoke with the Archbishop of Paris on this subject, while the cathedral is due to reopen to the public in December.
A price of 5 euros?
“It would be a question of setting up a symbolic price for all tourist visits to Notre-Dame and devoting this money entirely to a major plan to safeguard religious heritage,” she supports, putting forward the price of 5 euros.
The idea would also be to charge more for entry to famous monuments, such as the Louvre, for foreign visitors who live outside the European Union. “My position on this subject is very clear: the French are not intended to pay for everything, on their own,” she concludes.
