The National Water Commission (Conagua) defines winter storms as climatic phenomena that combine precipitation and low temperatures.which allows the formation of snow, ice and sleet, accompanied by intense winds. These events can cause significant changes in the country’s climatic conditions and affect various regions.
For the period between the end of this year and the beginning of next, Conagua has predicted a total of seven winter storms in Mexico. They are expected to occur as follows: one storm in November and another in December 2024, as well as two in January and three in February 2025, indicating a particularly active winter.
The northern part of the country will be the most affected, since The first winter storm is expected to bring temperatures between -10 and -15 degrees in mountainous areas. For their part, the Altiplano and the Valley of Mexico will also feel the impact of the cold, although temperatures in these regions will be more moderate, especially during the nights and early mornings.
Although there is still no specific date for the arrival of the first winter storm, it is expected that the Day of the Dead, celebrated on November 2, could be affected by low temperatures. Therefore, it is essential that the population follow Conagua’s recommendations to prevent illnesses and other inconveniences during this winter season.
