Minister of Communications and Technology Meutya Hafid Wants to Focus on Maintaining Data Security, Child-Friendly Internet, and Eradicating Online Gambling

Meutya added that digital communication will also be the focus of her Ministry under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto.

In the future, Meutya and her deputy ministers also have plans to visit a number of 3T areas, especially in Eastern Indonesia to check how the internet connection is there.

“The hope for the future, if we want a digital basis, internet connections must be even and fast,” he said.

Meutya also said that currently 98 percent of the internet is connected, although it must be acknowledged that the speed is still not evenly distributed.

In the 100 days of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, Meutya said, the government’s concern is to eradicate online gambling while making the internet friendly and protecting children.

“If we look at his first speech about digitalization for various government affairs, that was also his focus. So maybe that’s what we can focus on together, including a more even internet in the next 100 days,” he said.
