The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that, according to the update at 03:00 hours, central Mexico time, The center of Tropical Storm “Nadine” was located approximately 175 kilometers southeast of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, and 115 km east of Belize City, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of 85 km.
Therefore, it is expected that around noon this Saturday “Nadine” will make landfall north of Belize, approximately 70 kilometers (km) south of Chetumal, Quintana Roo. The most intense cloud bands of the system will be located over the south of Quintana Roo, Conagua indicated in a statement.
In addition, he specified that the storm of torrential rains in regions of Campeche and Quintana Rooand intense in areas of Yucatán; Likewise, wind gusts of 70 to 90 km/h and waves of 2 to 4 meters high are forecast in Quintana Roo; from 60 to 80 km/h with waves of 1 to 3 meters in Campeche and Yucatán and the conditions for the formation of waterspouts will prevail on the coasts of these states.

The rains could cause flooding, an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, as well as landslides and flooding in low areas of the aforementioned states, which is why Conagua urged the population, tourists and maritime navigation to heed the warnings of the National Meteorological Service (SMN)as well as to follow the recommendations of Civil Protection and take extreme precautions against rain, wind and high waves.
