In the Rhône and Loire, several roads were blocked on Thursday October 17 due to flooding. SNCF traffic is interrupted on certain sections.
On the A47 motorway, trucks were stopped for several kilometers on Thursday October 17. At the edge of the Givors (Rhône) commercial area, the line of blocked vehicles is impressive. Water invaded the roadway in both directions, interrupting traffic between Lyon (Rhône) and Saint-Étienne (Loire). In the Loire department, this same highway was transformed into a river, taking motorists by surprise. Departmental roads are not spared, with flooding or landslides blocking the roads.
In Ardèche, water passed over a bridge, partially destroying it. Other works were swept away by the current. Rivers have also sometimes covered railway tracks. SNCF traffic is interrupted between Saint-Étienne and Lyon. Several users were without a solution on Thursday evening. The SNCF warns that traffic will remain interrupted on this section for several days. In departments on red alert, it is recommended not to use your car.
