Prior to the formal start of “La Mañanera del Pueblo” today, October 15, the President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that this Tuesday Details will be given about the National Vaccination Campaign against Influenza and COVID-19 for the 2024-2025 winter season, and that the Patria vaccine is contemplated in the country.
In his morning conference at the National Palace, Sheinbaum Pardo described that “There are two different vaccines” that will be applied.
“The vaccines are already available, that was a forecast of President López Obrador’s government, and then, in addition, we are already acquiring the vaccines, one part and the other part for subsequent vaccination, but they are two different vaccines.”
“And one part is the Patria vaccine in the case of COVID-19,” said the President.
The Ministry of Health plans to apply 36 million 134 thousand 272 vaccines against the influenza and 22 million 931 thousand 444 doses against COVID-19 to the population that belongs to sectors with a higher risk of complications, hospitalization and mortality from these diseases.
Who can receive the influenza or COVID-19 vaccine?
In the case of influenza, The target population is made up of girls and boys from six months to four years and eleven months; people over 60 years of age, pregnant in any trimester of pregnancy, healthcare personnel health and those who are between five and 59 years old who present some risk comorbidity.
Comorbidities that make it necessary to receive the influenza vaccine are: chronic heart or lung diseases such as COPD or asthma; uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, morbid obesity; cardiovascular disease except high blood pressure; kidney failure, immunosuppression due to illness or treatment, cancer and people with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
For the case of COVID-19, People between the ages of five and 59 who have any comorbidity must receive a dose, regardless of whether it is a primary or booster regimen: uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, morbid obesity, chronic lung disease, including COPD and asthma; cardiovascular disease, including essential arterial hypertension, chronic renal failure, immunosuppression due to disease or treatment; cancer or HIV.
Besides, pregnant people (with at least six months since their last dose and in any trimester of pregnancy) and women in the postpartum period, as well as people over 60 years of age and health personnel.
The doses of the biological will be applied in the vaccination centers, the health units of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), IMSS-Bienestar, Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), units of Petróleos Mexicanos ( Pemex) or health services of the entities.
