Is Meutya Hafid Ready to Take the Chair of Minister of Communication and Information in the Prabowo-Gibran Cabinet?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Meutya Hafid, Chair of Commission I DPR, is in the public spotlight after being seen visiting President-Elect Prabowo Subianto’s residence in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Monday (14/10/2024).

The presence of this former journalist among Prabowo’s names of ministerial candidates has given rise to a lot of speculation, with Meutya Hafid being said to be occupying the position of Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) in the next cabinet.

Meutya herself is well known for her work in the world of politics and her involvement in Commission I of the DPR, which is in charge of defense, foreign affairs, communications and informatics, and intelligence.

Not only that, Commission I of the DPR is also in close partnership with the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) led by Prabowo. He admitted that he was invited by Prabowo to come directly to Kertanegara.

For 20 minutes, Meutya admitted that she had a discussion with Prabowo. When asked, he only said that he was chatting according to his field in Commission I of the DPR.

“Coming up for a little discussion regarding assignments is already my field. “He asked me to strengthen the team, my field in particular,” said Meutya in Kertanegara on Monday, 14 October 2024, as quoted from the News channel, Tuesday (15/10/2024).

When asked about the ministerial position that would be occupied in the Prabowo era, namely Minister of Communication and Information, Meutya only said it was related to her field.

For this reason, referring to her statement, it is possible that Meutya will serve in the post of the Ministry of Communication and Information or the Ministry of Defense.

“Still related to Commission I, I ask for your support, because the task is quite difficult. “I ask for everyone’s support,” said this former TV journalist.

He also asked to wait for an official announcement from Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka regarding the position entrusted to Meutya on October 20.
