The unauthorized party turned into drama on Saturday in the south of the Hautes-Alpes. A woman died of a heart attack after participating in a rave party, the Gap prosecutor said on Sunday, confirming information from the Dauphiné Libéré.
The victim, aged 21, who was present at the scene of an unauthorized festive gathering in the town of Trescléoux, was taken care of by emergency services late Saturday morning, said the Gap prosecutor’s office. The young woman was evacuated to Gap hospital, where she died, said the same source.
Up to 5,000 people present
An investigation was opened to determine the causes of death and entrusted to the Gap gendarmerie, said prosecutor Marion Lozac’hmeur.
The rave party started on Friday evening, and brought together around 5,000 people on Saturday evening, at the height of the event, according to the prefecture. All weekend, law enforcement, firefighters and health services “were fully mobilized on the site and the entire department to secure the roads and ensure the safety of people on site” indicated the prefecture. The rave party was still in progress on Sunday evening around 9 p.m., but the participants were starting to disperse.
