So how can Apple fulfill these requirements? The Indonesian government has actually offered several options that can be taken. Agus explained that there were three schemes offered to Apple: first, producing products domestically; second, utilizing local application services, and third, developing innovation schemes. However, Apple chose the third option, namely the innovation scheme. "We provide flexibility, but Apple has an innovation scheme. Unfortunately, Apple's investment realization is still not in accordance with its initial commitment," explained Agus. He added, "of the total investment of IDR 1.71 trillion, Apple has only realized around IDR 1.48 trillion. Still less than IDR 240 billion." Apart from that, Agus also emphasized the importance of encouraging Apple to not only establish an academy in Indonesia, but also develop research and development (R&D) facilities within the country. This is very important to strengthen Indonesia's ability to create competitive local technological innovation.
