Hugo Prévost, one of the youngest members of the National Assembly, has just been excluded by his own group. La France insoumise decided on Tuesday to exclude the Isère MP for “serious acts of a sexual nature which may relate to criminal offenses prior to his election”, according to a press release.
From Grenoble to the Assembly…
Born September 9, 1999 (09/09/99) in Grenoble, Hugo Prevost is the son of a father who is a construction executive and a mother who is a laboratory engineer at the CNRS. Heir to Spanish republican great-grandparents, refugees in France to escape the Franco dictatorship, he was raised in an environment marked by the left.
At only 16 years old, he got involved against the “labor” law within the National High School Union (UNL) in Grenoble. He is also a volunteer within the Grenoble-based Génération précarité collective, which organizes distributions of food and hygiene products. Little by little, he launched into politics until facing a heavyweight from the Macron government during the early legislative elections of 2024.
Olivier Véran’s triumphant adversary
At only 24 years old, Hugo Prevost triumphed against Olivier Véran, in his stronghold of Grenoble, while he was still a master’s student in economics at the Sorbonne. The student then became, on July 7, the New Popular Front (NFP) deputy for the 1st constituency of Isère and one of the youngest members of the National Assembly. The Grenoblois obtained 42.4% of the votes in the second round, ahead of the former Minister of Health by almost a thousand votes (40.2%), far ahead of the National Rally (RN) candidate, at 17 .4%.
Sexual harassment, moral harassment and predation patterns
But the victory was short-lived for Hugo Prevost who saw his past catch up with him. LFI explains in its press release that it was contacted at the end of September by the Vigilance Committee against Sexist and Sexual Violence (CVSS) “concerning serious facts”. The latter was then auditioned by his group. Supported by the elements of the CVSS, the parliamentary group “pronounced the exclusion of the deputy, in accordance with the principles of the charter signed by the legislative candidates, committing to defend feminist values and to combat sexist and sexual violence”.
The Student Union, co-founded by Hugo Prevost, for its part collected “testimonies” reporting “facts of moral and sexual harassment, patterns of predation, serious criminally reprehensible acts of a sexual nature”.
Press release: Aggressors have no place in our organizations
Our organizations are not impervious to patriarchy, we must protect ourselves at all levels against the occurrence of VSS. We stand alongside victims of violence and show them our support. pic.twitter.com/fH8pRnB0IP

These facts extend over a period from 2020 to 2024 and “would have continued after the departure of Hugo Prevost from the national team (…) in March”, continues the student organization in a press release which denounces “a desire for control sexuality and women’s politics. According to the Student Union, “the majority of the facts had been known to some for several months, even several years”.
Both the organization and the parliamentary group now refer to justice.
