Previously, as quoted from Bisnis Liputan6.com, the TEMU application again became a topic of conversation on X’s social media after a tweet reviewed the presentation of one of the speakers at the E-Commerce Expo about the dangers of the TEMU application.
Responding to this issue, Special Staff to the Minister for Empowerment of the Creative Economy of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (KemenKopUKM) Fiki Satari emphasized that the Government is currently committed to monitoring and ensuring that the TEMU application does not enter Indonesia.
“If TEMU enters Indonesia, this will be very dangerous for domestic MSMEs. Moreover, this digital platform from China that can facilitate direct transactions between factories in China and consumers in destination countries will kill MSMEs,” said Fiki in his official statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (2/10/2024).
Fiki said, the TEMU application has the concept of selling goods directly from the factory to consumers without sellers, resellers, dropshippers or affiliates so there are no tiered commissions. This, coupled with the subsidies provided by the platform, means that the products in the application are priced very cheaply.
“They have entered the United States (US) and Europe, and now they have even started to expand into the Southeast Asia region, especially in neighboring countries such as Thailand and Malaysia. So we have to continue to guard against them entering Indonesia,” said Fiki.
As Fiki said, since September 2022 the TEMU application has attempted to register brands three times in Indonesia.
