Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Telkomsel strengthens the security and accuracy of the prepaid SIM card registration process by applying facial recognition biometric security. This technology is implemented to facilitate the process of registering prepaid cards and changing cards via Telkomsel’s self-service machines, MyGrapari and Grapari Online.
That way, Telkomsel services when prepaid customers register can be safer, faster and more efficient. This step not only makes customer validation easier and faster, but also strengthens personal data protection.
For your information, in terms of security, since the launch of MyGrapari in 2015, Telkomsel has gradually implemented eKTP and fingerprint scanning technology to validate customer identity, when replacing SIM cards.
Now, facial recognition biometric technology is expected to complement existing validation methods. In this case, the use of the Population Identification Number (NIK) and Family Card Number, thus providing a safer, faster and more comfortable registration experience.
Director General of Post and Informatics (PPI) Kominfo, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, expressed support for Telkomsel’s initiative and readiness in implementing facial recognition technology for the prepaid card registration process.
“Every telecommunications service provider is required to implement the Know Your Customer (KYC) principle to ensure the protection of customers’ personal data. We hope that through facial recognition technology challenges related to identity validation can be resolved effectively,” said Wayan.
He hopes that what Telkomsel is doing will also be implemented by all telecommunications service providers.
