The eight trade union organizations (CFDT, CGT, FO, CFE-CGC, CFTC, Unsa, Solidaires and FSU) which had led the social fight in 2023 against the pension reform wanted by Emmanuel Macron, say in a press release, “ready to participate in all consultation and negotiation meetings on all retirement issues.”
The Intersyndicale cites in particular “the age measures which must be repealed, equality between women and men, arduousness, the employment of seniors, long careers…”. On the other hand, the eight unions still say they are opposed to 64-year-olds. “It’s still no!” », They still affirm in reference to the gradual postponement of the legal age from 62 to 64 years established by the reform.
Common communication
“The objective was to communicate together before the question of pensions comes back with the debates on the PLF and PLFSS. (…) And before the Prime Minister and the Minister of Labor come back to us to resume discussions,” confided a union source, while Michel Barnier said, on October 1, he was open to “reasonable and fair adjustments », in consultation with the social partners, while deeming it “imperative to preserve the sustainable balance of our pension system”.
“After 18 months of denial and presidential force, this is a first recognition that this reform is unfair,” believes the inter-union. This also calls on the head of government “to immediately suspend the reform to allow its repeal and to organize a pension financing conference during which the union organizations will demonstrate that it is possible to return to the 64 years” .
Soon a joint meeting
“The future of pensions deserves a high-level debate: we must be able to address all the questions and discuss all the parameters. This is how we must remove the age measures from the previous reform while consolidating the future of our pay-as-you-go pension system,” the unions further argue.
This appeal, signed for the first time in several months by all the trade union organizations, could be followed by a joint meeting in the coming weeks, said a close source. Before that, Force Ouvrière announced the holding of a meeting on the repeal of the pension reform on October 26 at La Mutualité, in Paris.
