As she announced in her first message to Mexico last week, the new President indicated that she will focus her policies on four axes: attention to the causes of violence through social programs to prevent young people from being recruited into crime; the consolidation of the National Guard under the command of the army; the creation of a national intelligence and investigation system; and the coordinated work between the federal government, the states, municipalities and the Public Ministry.
Sheinbaum, en the morning today in the National Palace, said that the National Security Plan will maintain the former president’s policy of non-confrontation with the drug cartels. Additionally, as part of the new policies, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuchalso announced in the Treasury Room that a national intelligence system will be created that will unify the investigation capabilities of all the country’s security institutions.
“From the security cabinet of the government of Mexico we are going to work with all the federal entities because we are convinced that to achieve lasting peace in the country we must assume that security is a shared responsibility”said García Harfuch.

García Harfuch indicated that they are looking for coordinate the Secretariat of Public Security (SSPyPC) and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the latter headed by Alejandro Gertz Manero.
“It is a problem that requires shared responsibility and a unified response, which is why we are going to have absolute coordination between the institutions of the security cabinet and also when necessary with the state authorities,” he indicated.
