To be a medium that serves its readers and the construction of a better community. With this objective, on October 5, 1917, the first edition of THE INFORMATOR. Today, 107 years later, its mission remains, with the intention of evolving and improving, emphasizes its director, Juan Carlos Álvarez del Castillo Barragán.
“We are the city’s newspaper, with the trust of our readers and advertisers for being positive, constructive and guiding, which is what my father, Carlos Álvarez del Castillo, has taught me since I started working in the media. And we will continue like this.”
In the last year, this publishing house has had several changes: “Our newsroom is no longer divided into print and digital. It’s just one. We started the work with immediacy, working on multimedia content and nurturing our social networks. Afterwards, this content is deepened to bring it to print with further research and analysis. We made modifications to the Editorial structure: Patricia Gallardo, internet coordinator, is now part of the editorial coordination, along with a journalist with extensive experience, Mario Muñoz Both lead a team of reporters, editors, designers and layout designers in conjunction with the production and delivery groups. It is a team effort to reach our subscribers every day.”
Efforts are made to continue growing. “In the digital area we are constantly training and looking for new talents, improving our presence on networks. These efforts have led us to position ourselves among the top 10 media outlets in Mexico.”
In the print, changes have been made to the design to present the news in a more concise and relevant way, with more research. We are also looking to improve the quality of printing: “We made a significant effort to unify our printing, commercial and editorial workshops. At the beginning of 2025 we will be inaugurating a new press.”
The growth of THE INFORMER It does not end in the editorial. “The commercial area works constantly to find the best opportunities for our advertisers, to whom we owe, accompanying them to communicate their ideas clearly and encouraging them in their objectives. On the other hand, the subscriber benefits program, Informative Circle, This year, it launched the digital application that allows them to access the different benefits in more than 200 establishments through their cell phone.”
Finally, Juan Carlos talks about one of the biggest changes in the last year: leaving the Center. “It was a difficult decision, but the right one, because transforming also had to do with the change of headquarters. Although the Center building has been iconic for the city, we decided to move to have modern offices and an efficient space suitable for our needs.”
Despite the changes, Juan Carlos is clear that the medium will continue seeking to stay at the forefront, “always listening and learning from what our readers and our audiences want, seeking to adapt and that the history of THE INFORMER continue for many more years.”
