Chinese Hackers Break into US Court Wiretapping System, This is China’s Explanation

On the other hand, China’s Ministry of National Security accused the Taiwanese military-backed hacker group (Anonymous 64) of carrying out cyber attacks using anti-propaganda sabotage mode against targets in China.

The ministry also named three Taiwanese citizens it said were part of the group and published their photos.

Democratically ruled Taiwan, which China claims as its own territory, often complains that it is the victim of Chinese hacking and disinformation, but it is rare for Beijing to turn the tables and level accusations back at Taipei.

Speaking to journalists in parliament, as quoted from ReutersTuesday (24/9/2024), Taiwan Defense Minister Wellington Koo said that China is the main hacker throughout the world.

“China is the first country to carry out cyber attacks every day, aimed at Taiwan and other countries with the same democratic ideals. They are the real initiators,” he said.

Koo firmly said that China’s accusations were not true.

“Regarding what they have published, the military has confidence to defend the country and it will not have a chilling effect,” he added.

During a speech in parliament, Taiwanese Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai said China was spreading fake news to attack Taiwan.

“We must respond firmly to the fake news accusations against us,” Cho said.

China reportedly continues to maximize its power to bring Taiwan under its control. Taiwan’s government rejects China’s claims of sovereignty, saying only the people can decide their future.

China accuses Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te of being a separatist and has rejected Lai’s repeated offers of talks.
