Light explained that after gaining control of the stolen cryptocurrency, a portion of the sales proceeds were distributed to various locations around the world.
“Including several mixing services and gambling websites to hide my identity and the identities of my co-conspirators and hide the virtual currency,” he said.
Despite this, the FBI was able to track Light and arrest him, leading to his indictment in May 2023.
Initially, Light did not admit guilt, but now he has admitted his involvement in the cyber attack.
Light now faces up to 20 years in prison per count, three years of parole and restitution.
