After protesting as head of Government of Mexico City (CDMX), Clara Brugada reiterated that in terms of mobility one of its priority projects will be the construction of five new Cablebús lines.
In her speech, the capital president highlighted Cablebús as one of the most outstanding achievements of the government of the now president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum. In that sense, he promised to continue it.
“This city is at the forefront of electromobility, it is the city of Cablebús,” he said.
Brugada added that the expansion of the cable car will be possible with the support of the Chief Executive. In his words: “We are going to continue with the mobility transformation that Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum made, expanding electromobility in public transportation. We are going to build, together with the president, five new Cablebús lines”.
The five new Cablebús lines that it committed to building are these:
- Tlalpan
- Alvaro Obregon
- Cuajimalpa
- Magdalena Contreras
- Milpa Alta-Xochimilco
It is worth remembering that during her Thank You Tour, the former mayor of Iztapalapa announced that the The first line that he will build during his government will be that of Tlalpan.
“This year we are also bidding for the fourth line of the Mexico City Cablebús, which means the first Cablebús line of this period, the Tlalpan line, the Tlalpan Cablebús. The first Cablebús line will be Tlalpan,” he said in August of this year.
Brugada added that for the moment it is planned that the cable car in Tlalpan will have at least seven stations, starting from the El Capulín property, located in the Native Village of Santo Tomás Ajusco, to reach Ciudad Universitaria, in the Coyoacán mayor’s office.
Currently, making the trip from Santo Tomás Ajusco to Ciudad Universitaria takes 30 to 40 minutes by car. The transfer time increases considerably when there is traffic, so it is expected that the new Cabeblús line will significantly improve connectivity between both points.
It is worth mentioning that the new Cablebús lines are not Clara Brugada’s only proposal in terms of mobility.
“We are driven by safe, clean and sustainable mobility. We also want to establish a master plan for the mobility of the city, with the force of law that allows us to set the horizon and the goals that will have to be met in this six-year term,” he stated.
Its work plan includes projects in the Metro Collective Transportation System (STCM), Metrobús and buses. In addition, it plans to carry out various interventions on the city’s streets, for the benefit of motorists and cyclists alike.
- Carry out a deep intervention in the facilities, systems and trains of Lines 3 and 4 of the CDMX Metro.
- Complete the extension of Line 12 of the CDMX Metro to the Observatory.
- Complete the replacement of all minibuses in Mexico City and move towards sustainable transportation with the help of the workers behind the wheel.
- Modernize the traffic light network with technology and Artificial Intelligence that speeds up vehicle flow, reduces air pollution and saves citizens time.
- Build two new Metrobús lines, one along the entire Interior Circuit and another that advances on the Periférico.
- Create the largest Bicycle Path Network in the country, with 300 additional kilometers.
