One of the labor benefits that will soon be paid for workers in Mexico is the bonus, which consists of a single additional payment to the monthly salary that is granted to employees in our country. before December 20 of each year.
In accordance with the Federal Labor Law in its article 87, Currently the payment of the bonus consists of 15 days of salary and is mandatory for all employers with at least three months of service in the same company.
A constitutional reform proposed by the deputy of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico,Gabriela Benavides Cobos, presented in the Chamber of Deputies, seeks to double the minimum amount of the bonus payment, going from 15 to 30 days of salary.
During the presentation of the reform on October 2, the deputy recalled that labor rights have been reformed for years, but that the right to a bonus has remained intact for more than 50 years.
“Unlike other labor benefits, the bonus has not had significant changes for 54 years,” says Gabriela Benavides.
The proposal has already been approved by the Labor and Social Security Commission of the Senate and is now being analyzed in the Chamber of Deputies. If approved before December 20, the bonus must be 30 days of salary.
This proposal, said its author, seeks to strengthen the purchasing power of workers, as well as provide them with vital support to promote the development of human capital and improve the family economy.
