OpenAI, the creator behind ChatGPT is back in the limelight after receiving funding of IDR 7.5 trillion from SoftBank.
This funding further strengthens OpenAI’s position as a leader in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry.
Along with this funding announcement, OpenAI also revealed interesting facts regarding ChatGPT users.
According to published reports EngadgetFriday (4/10/2024), there are 250 million active ChatGPT users every week, who use this chatbot for various purposes, from work to study.
This number of users has increased significantly since the end of August, when the company founded by Sam Altman reported that ChatGPT was used by 200 million users every week.
Based on internal documents obtained The New York Timesin June there were 350 million monthly active users who utilized various OpenAI tools.
However, the report does not explain in detail how many of these ChatGPT users are paid customers compared to users of the free version.
This has raised many questions from various parties about OpenAI’s long-term business model, and how the company will leverage the new funding to expand ChatGPT’s paid customer base.
One reason it is thought to drive a further surge in user numbers is ChatGPT’s integration with Apple Intelligence.
This technology is scheduled to be available globally via the iOS 18.1 update in the next few months.
With Apple’s strong ecosystem, ChatGPT may increasingly dominate the AI market, especially if its features are further optimized for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
