Kalafina is a group led by music producer Yuki Kajiura. It started its activities in 2008 by singing the theme song of “Sora no Kyoukai the Movie”. The original members were not fixed. In May 2009, it was officially announced that the fixed members are Wakana and Keiko. ,Hikaru.
In addition to “Sora no Kyoukai the Movie”, he has also sung “Black Butler”, “Fate/Zero”, “Puella Magi Madoka Magica”, “Fate/stay night (Unlimited Blade Works)”, “Arslan Senki” , “ALDNOAH.ZERO” and other animation works’ theme songs, and is a familiar face of ufotable animation works.
However, Yuki Kajiura quit the agency Space Craft on February 21, 2018. In the same year, members Keiko and Hikaru also quit the agency in April and October. Kalafina has since effectively terminated its activities and announced its dissolution on March 14, 2019. The three of them each developed their careers as solo singers. Among them, the original member Keiko once again worked together with Yuki Kajiura to produce the ending theme song “Yu Dark No のうた” in the anime “Sengoku Demon Fox Saves the Brothers and Sisters” (January 2024).
As news of the resurrection concert was released, original producer Yuki Kajiura released a statement titled “About Kalafina” on his personal X.
After the announcement of the Kalafina concert, I received a few questions from various sources, but this performance had nothing to do with me. In addition, neither the organizers nor the members provided me with correct information regarding the previous public information, so I cannot give a definite answer. For questions about Kalafina, please contact the organizer or member’s brokerage company directly.
Kalafina will no longer accept my productions from now on, and has decided to embark on a “new Kalafina” path that has nothing to do with me. I would have loved to be able to make music with Kalafina again, but that seems to be an impossible future.
Although I feel very sorry, this is the members’ choice, and as music creators, things like this can happen. As you all know, these three singers are just amazing. I sincerely thank you for being able to create music with these three people in the past, and I wish Kalafina a smoother future development.
