In June, Netflix delivered the good news that the Peaky Blinders Film has been officially given the green light. In the closing film of Peaky Blinders (2013–2022) Cillian Murphy takes on the role of the infamous Thomas Shelby one more time, and production has now officially started. To celebrate, the streaming service is sharing a first look at the actor as the iconic character.
In the run-up to the war
Creator Steven Knight has confirmed that the film will take place after the events of the series’ final season. Thomas Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, will once again star as the film focuses on the growing tensions in Europe leading up to World War II. The film promises to offer a deeper exploration of the moral dilemmas and choices the characters must make.
New faces
In addition to Murphy, the cast also includes Dune actress Rebecca Ferguson, Saltburn star Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth. Unfortunately, details about the characters they will play are not yet known. Peaky Blinderscreator Steven Knight wrote the script for the new film, which is directed by Tom Harper. He previously directed several episodes of Peaky Blinders and made the Netflix action film Heart of Stone (2023).
When to see?
Unfortunately, details about the release date are not yet clear. Since filming has just started, we don’t expect the film to appear on Netflix until 2025. Want to stay informed? Create an account on our website, put the film in your watchlist and automatically stay informed of a release date.
