The mummified body of a man was discovered this Tuesday in an apartment on rue Mirabeau in Besançon, during the intervention of a bailiff, indicates L’Est Républicain. The latter had been mandated by a social landlord to evict a tenant who had not paid his rent since 2021.
Accompanied by police officers and a locksmith, the bailiff entered the apartment, where they discovered the body of a man, probably aged 44, who had died for several years. The first findings on site revealed a disorderly accommodation, with numerous bottles of alcohol.
An identical case last August
No signs of break-in were noted, the keys were in the apartment and the exits were closed from the inside. No external intervention is suspected at this stage, but an autopsy will be carried out to confirm the identity of the victim, as indicated this Wednesday by the Besançon public prosecutor’s office.
This discovery comes after a similar case in Besançon. Indeed, on August 6, a skeleton was found in a storage room on rue de Champagne.
