Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Telkomsel announced that their 5G network traffic had increased by 340 percent when holding PON XXI 2024 in Aceh and North Sumatra, compared to normal days.
Previously, Telkomsel provided 5G broadband access to support the smooth digital activities of the public and visitors during PON XXI 2024 on 9-20 September.
Based on company data, apart from the surge in 5G network traffic, Telkomsel also recorded an increase in payload traffic of more than 11.2 percent.
This growth in broadband traffic is in line with the increasing use of digital services. Starting from social media access which rose 9.61 percent, use of instant messaging and video conferencing services which reached 8.05 percent, video streaming 7.65 percent, mobile games rose 10.5 percent, and browsing access grew 8.58 percent.
Telkomsel also noted an increase in access activity for several favorite applications. These applications include WhatsApp which grew 8.09 percent, TikTok 10.5 percent, Instagram 10.45 percent, YouTube 8.46 percent, and Facebook rose 8.38 percent.
Quoting Telkomsel’s statement, Monday (30/9/2024), the company is committed to providing digital connectivity with the latest technology. One of them is by adding 5G networks to 12 locations where PON XXI is held.
Telkomsel is also optimizing the 4G network at 257 existing sites and installing 14 mobile BTS units. Telkomsel not only wants to facilitate digital access but also ensure the best communication experience for all participants, athletes, officials, volunteers and visitors to PON XXI 2024.
